Does the game utilise the VMU in any capacity?

Probably so, I have 4x4 jam and it does use the VMU. This game is using the same engine, they probably are using it to save the ranking and the scores.

.....there is one major issue.....

I had exactly the same issue when looking at the videos released, those billboards on the side of the tracks just never stop. I really hope this is just placeholder and that they'll cut down on the quantity in the final release.

Seems like a pretty good review! This is exceeding my expectations after seeing acvtual gameplay footage! They even bumped the graphics up and tweaked the handing for drifting! I can't wait to get my hands on this!
