Yes this is actually something being worked on, it requires flashing over a firmware and backing up the existing one. It has to be done a specific way though in order to do properly.

The tool does exist, I've used it myself.

Thank you for sharing. I have spent quite sometime before looking for the fw. Could you please share it? I really want to put my controller into use regardless of the red led

I do wonder if theres a way to make them work even on a retail PS3 (or with CFW) while using some kind of adapter or plug-in.
