I did a record of the fighting theme of FF7 for pc what support XG Midi. I personal think the best FF7 audio you can get is over a Yamaha MU-2000EX.

My Sony Vaio has a built-in AC-XG, and I played this game with it a little. It sounded pretty good, though I also tried it with my SB Live! and it sounded very similar - possibly identical. I think this is because the MIDI parts of each of those devices is the same, i.e. AC’97 based.

yes, Yamaha is better, coz PC ver design for XG
