External ROM extension for SNES IS Devkits

There are serval IS-Kits out there, but i wonder if anyone has some information/pictures about a external ROM device for the IS SNES devkits? The SHVC.exe has a commad "ROM" where you can get the kit in High/lowrom mode. And there is a another part where you can point to a external ROM device.
