Saturn Custom Make Saturn System Disc

looking System Disc long time ago, how ever no lucky get real one
yes, I can hotswap CD-R system disc and game disc, make it look like real
but.... every one is lazy, right ?

we can install chip or custom ram card do same think, but it no help Cart.b and VCD developer

here is final ver , for every one lazy and no system disc ppl
( if some one want send me free SYSTEM DISC, yes! plz ! )

get real Saturn game disc and 2.5"cd-r ( sorry Virtua Fighter T_T )
put in cd case, mark the cd-r ring



open up any cdrom , power on it on the fly,



use tools hold the mark let it going....

once finish cut, burn System disc data to CD-R and fit cut Saturn CD
DONE

On the Dreamcast, the actual magic of the SD2 is in its special ring, so that wouldn't work.

Seems like it'd explode in the console too.

this cd cut only work for Saturn the copyright ring,
yes, it actually boot a CD-R/Beta after system disc boot up ( incase cd-r/beta fit in 2.5" CDR , it can by pass system disc boot )

SD2 is different, hard to do clone

I've seen a variation on this approach before, only that was done with a copied game rather than just to replicate the function of an official boot disc. In a scenario where you'd only be using this for a few minutes at the very most to bypass the protection system, I can imagine it's far less risky overall - I dread to think what kind of damage might be caused to the laser or drive mechanism if the two constituent elements were to separate while rotating at such high speed!

I remember back in the day when I was a modorator at TIZ some lady wrote up a huge tutorial on how she did the same thing to boot backups. I couldn't bring myself to hack up a game like that so only messed with Pseudo Saturn.

I've also seen an even cruder variation of the same idea where a mini CDR was literally glued to a retail disc, though I'm not sure the Saturn's laser would be strong enough to read the security ring from this slightly longer distance - I'm guessing it could be calibrated to such a degree, but wouldn't that then prevent it from being able to pick up data on the CDR?

read Sega ring speed is other stranded , no pain about laser issue
it only take 4-6 sec boot system disc when power on Saturn , after finish , it can freedom read any cd-r/beta/ or switch to VCD

You can litterally superglue the CD-R to the outer disc if you want to make this modification somewhat permanent.
