Can The NES Game Genie ROM be merged with another ROM and boot on emulators?

I noticed a link to a tool called famiROM in the above thread and tried splitting the GG ROM and SMB and then
merging them together and they wouldn't boot.

If possible I was wondering if someone could maybe help me and show me what I'm doing wrong.
