PS2 SCPH-10000 not stopping disc before ejecting

I have a SCPH-10000 with a weird issue: It does not brake the spindle motor before ejecting. Even at maximum speed (that is: a PS2 CD/blue-disc game during startup), it immediately opens the tray with the disc still spinning inside of it, which sounds and looks horrible and scratches up the disc. There's no modchip that could interfere with the drive electronics. There are also no software modifications like FMCB. The console is completely stock. What's going on there?
 
Fixed. The issue was the Flat Flex Cable between the drive board and the motherboard. It had contact issues due to slight corrosion and probably miscommunicated the drive state.
