I remember that "blue troll" from that 3DO video. It indeed looks pre-rendered and there is no way it would have run like that.

No mystery here, this was an M2 game right from the start. The early rendering has nothing to do with the game.

I'm in the process of reviving 3dom2.com, which will include all the infos about cancelled M2 games I got directly from the devs. May take a few more days for it being up-to-date, however.
